The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, flies to Lanzarote on Wednesday afternoon to spend a few days of rest with his family, coinciding with the Easter holidays, as confirmed to EFE by sources from the Executive.
Sánchez will take a plane to the island shortly after returning to Madrid from Rome, where he held his first meeting with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, and will remain in Lanzarote until Sunday.
The sources have declined to offer more details about the President's plans for these days, as it is a private break.
Pedro Sánchez has chosen Lanzarote several times for his vacation periods and usually stays at the La Mareta residence, in Teguise, a complex built in its day for Hussein of Jordan, who gave it as a gift to King Juan Carlos I in the late eighties.
The Royal House made that residence available to the National Heritage a long time ago. Heads of State or Government such as the German Chancellors Helmut Kohl and Gerhard Schröder, the President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev, the Czech President Václav Havel or the Spanish Presidents José María Aznar, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and Pedro Sánchez himself have stayed there.
