The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, could travel to Lanzarote at the beginning of August to start his holidays here, as La Voz de Lanzarote has been able to confirm. In addition, national media such as OK Diario point out that he would stay at the La Mareta residence, where he also was almost two years ago.

On that occasion, Sánchez came to Lanzarote with his wife, Begoña Gómez, and their two daughters during the Christmas holidays, and the family started the year in La Mareta.

This residence located in Costa Teguise was donated in 1989 to the now emeritus king, Juan Carlos I, by King Hussein of Jordan, although it later passed into the hands of the National Heritage. The current king, Felipe VI, who as a prince also stayed there with his wife, later expressly decided to put it "at the service of the tourist interests of Spain".

In addition to Sánchez himself, other presidents of Spain have also used that residence. The last one was José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, who later continued to spend his holidays on the island and acquired a home in Famara, and before him José María Aznar had also done so.
