The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, left Lanzarote on the morning of this Monday, August 25, where he arrived on August 2 to spend his summer vacation with his family.

During his stay on the island, the president stayed at the La Mareta residence, where heads of state or government have also stayed, such as German chancellors Helmut Kohl and Gerhard Schröder, USSR President Mikhail Gorbachev, Czech President Václav Havel or Spanish Presidents José María Aznar, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and Pedro Sánchez himself.

In these more than three weeks, fifty agents traveled to Lanzarote to guarantee the president's protection.

Also, during his vacation, Pedro Sánchez met with the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, who proposed to the Spanish President the preparation of a Decree Law with specific issues for the Canary Islands.

In addition, the far-right organization Hazte Oír traveled to Lanzarote to protest against Sánchez, filling it with dozens of umbrellas with an image printed of the President of the Government of Spain, and the word "corrupt" screen-printed emulating the letters of the classic cinematographic of the Italian mafia The Godfather.
