The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has appointed Nori Machín as a non-elected councilor who will lead the area of Seniors and intergenerational relations of the first institution. Betancort signed the decree of her appointment this Tuesday.
Nori Machín has been a councilor of the Canarian Coalition in the Teguise City Council since 2015 and has held the areas of Social Welfare, Senior Citizen care and Festivals in the last term. In these last municipal elections Machín was number fourteen on the list presented by the Canarian Coalition to the Cabildo but was not elected.
The Social Welfare area of the Cabildo is headed by Marciano Acuña and now the attention to the elderly and intergenerational relations will be separated from it.
Nori Machín will receive 60,000 euros gross, which is what was agreed in the plenary session of July 17, 2023, where the remuneration of the councilors with exclusive dedication was set. According to the decree, "the non-elected or elected councilors only have voice and no vote in the sessions of the Island Government Council, and their attendance at these sessions is not counted for the purpose of determining the quorum legally required for the constitution of the body".
