Nueva Canarias Arrecife presented the presentation "Urbanism, mobility and commerce effect", which is included within its City Model program "We'll Tell You in Green" held at the Torrelavega Society.
The civil engineer and mobility specialist, Miguel Morales González, explained what the strategic lines to take into account in cities like Arrecife are. He explained the "process of successful experiences in urban environments" and highlighted the "need for consensus and participation as central elements to take into account".
The candidate for mayor of Arrecife, Armando Santana, pointed out that “mobility and urban planning are transforming elements that will undoubtedly be the axes of economic and social progress for Arrecife and Lanzarote” and added that “all sectors involved in the island's economy must be present in decision-making”.
"For me it is important that the municipal mobility plans of the island should be integrated into the island mobility plan. In this aspect, we must have the vision of Lanzarote as an island city," said Santana.
From the party they insist on "implementing tactical urban planning as a citizen participation tool, since it allows the transformation of urban areas with very well structured processes. In addition, we must integrate these actions into the Arrecife city Biosphere Reserve project".
"From Nueva Canarias we are very clear that mobility and the urban environment, together with the participation of all social agents, are the fundamental axes of future policies in the city of Arrecife," they point out.
"The actions to be developed", Miguel Morales explained in his presentation, "increase commerce expectations, revalue urban environments and improve the quality of life of our neighbors. But these policies should always be done with rigor, participation and consensus".
