The member of the Mixed Group - NC in the Island Council of Lanzarote, Óscar Noda, has presented ten amendments to the budget proposal of the Canary Coalition and Popular Party in the Island Council of Lanzarote and La Graciosa that "they are selling almost as miraculous, but that, clearly, violates the rights of the representatives of the people of Lanzarote".
According to Noda, the councilors “only have three days to analyze these accounts, a clearly short period. Shameful democratic anomaly that adds to the fact that it has not been possible to amend the entirety, which is what this budget deserved”.
For Councilor Noda, “if we think about the citizens of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, it is more than evident that this budget project, which increases more than 19 million euros compared to the previous year, this hodgepodge of numbers devised by Oswaldo Betancort, deserves a more than deserved amendment to the entirety because it does not include a single one of the main challenges facing the island. They forget to give serious treatment to major scourges of the island such as water or housing. Inexplicably, specific items are not established for those two major problems despite the attempts at publicity, with great fanfare, that they intend to indicate otherwise”.
Noda believes that “these budgets leave aside strategic investments such as the longed-for Congress Palace or the resurfacing and repair of numerous roads, including the northern road, resurfacing the road from Tahíche to Arrieta or the doubling of the road from Yaiza to Playa Blanca”.
Among the amendments of Óscar Noda, “cultural aid around the patron saint of the island, San Marcial de Rubicón, is also proposed, with the aim of facing parties and celebrations in conditions worthy of the patron saint of the island”. Noda also proposes “other investments in Social Welfare such as the acquisition of land in the vicinity of Tinajo, Tías and San Bartolomé for a Public Residence for the Elderly. We cannot forget that these three municipalities have more than 48,000 inhabitants and lack sufficient public places for day or boarding residences. The Playa Blanca Family Respite Center is also important, more than necessary because the municipality of Yaiza is growing due to its strength in employment. It is necessary to foresee and execute a work that gives answers to the residents of the municipality and their families”.
The member of the Mixed Group in the Island Council of Lanzarote, Óscar Noda, hopes that “the government group of the Council will put aside the ticktoker videos to which they have subscribed for the greater glory of the president and his ego, that they no longer turn their backs on the citizens of Lanzarote and La Graciosa and are willing to study and apply these amendments to the island budget that only seek to improve the lives of the people of Lanzarote and Graciosa from the first island institution”, concludes Óscar Noda.
