The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, has asked the Councilor for Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, "greater speed in the processing of projects of interest to the municipality in terms of roads", questioning, among other things, the delay in repairing the sinkhole near Los Hervideros, which has kept a section of the LZ-703 road closed to traffic since February. In this regard, the mayor recalls that the councilor himself assured at the time that the action would be carried out "through the emergency route", but it remains unrepaired half a year later.

In addition, Óscar Noda points out that he has been requesting a meeting with the councilor for more than two weeks "to review issues of importance to Yaiza", without having received a response. "He keeps stalling when it is understood that one of the objectives of the Planning and Projects Unit that he directs is precisely to coordinate tasks and initiatives with the city councils and other institutions," questions the mayor.

In a statement, Noda also harshly attacks the PP councilor, accusing him of "institutional disloyalty to the City Council and also to his government partner in the Cabildo", for a visit he made to the municipality to announce the completion of a work. "It's not that I think it's good that he intends to attribute works planned, executed and financed by the City Council, such as the landscaping and beautification of the roundabout at the entrance to Playa Blanca, but if he is able to solve problems, then I don't mind him continuing to pose on social networks," he says.

Along with the solution to the Los Hervideros road, Noda demands that the LZ-2 be included in the Canary Islands Road Agreement, to undertake the doubling of the section that connects Yaiza and Playa Blanca, an extreme that the mayor already personally transmitted last June to the Director of Road Infrastructure of the Government of the Canary Islands, José Luis Delgado, and that needs the consensus of the three administrations. "The port of Playa Blanca moves a considerable volume of vehicles per year that will surely be increased by the expansion works of the dock that will be completed in November. This is an old demand of Yaiza that deserves to be taken into account," he stresses.

"In addition to the continuity of cleaning work on road margins, another issue of interest for Yaiza and the well-being of its residents is the fluidity of traffic in the industrial area of Playa Blanca and the accesses to the LZ 701 road, where a solution with two roundabouts is proposed, a solution that requires an agreement between the City Council, Club Lanzarote and the Island Council. What's more, I know that there is a large area interested in settling there, so for the companies that already operate in the area and the new ones that come to invest, we have the obligation to respond to the demands of citizen mobility," added the mayor.
