The mayor of Yaiza and president of UPY, Óscar Noda, was this Wednesday on the program Buenos días, Lanzarote of Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero to answer some questions about the resignation of the Councilor for Urban Planning, Karina Centeno, and about the rumors of crisis within the party.
"Nobody likes a colleague to leave because, in addition, I think she was one of the strong bets of Unidos Por Yaiza but I respect the personal decisions of each one because being in politics is not easy and it is clear that with the possible files that may be in the City Council it is not easy but among all we try to help, to get things forward and generate that tranquility but it is not easy", said Noda.
"To my colleague Karina I only have words of gratitude, and also from within the party, because internally she helped us a lot when redirecting the project and the structure of the project, and in the City Council obviously in this year and a half in which she has performed her work and wish her the best in her personal and professional facet and I will continue to count on her in the party if she wants to", he said.
To the question of whether Noda knew that Centeno was going to present her resignation, the mayor has responded that "he is not going to reveal what he talks about in private with his colleagues to the media but she did warn him by message of the decision making" although according to him, this Wednesday he has a meeting with the councilor.
On the other hand, after the resignation of Karina Centeno and Javier Camacho last July the rumors of crisis within UPY have increased. Centeno argued that this decision has been taken because she "did not feel comfortable within the government group, as well as for strictly professional reasons."
Regarding this, Noda has said that "in any large group each one thinks differently and there may be different opinions, and for my part I have always tried to seek harmony and help but it depends on each one how we focus the situations and try to find solutions."
The mayor has continued saying that "when that rumor comes from outside UPY I think it is intentional, the sharks when they see blood run and make more blood, and what matters to me right now is that Yaiza must continue and that is what I am going to focus on the most and, of course, the UPY project. Next week we will have a meeting because Centeno occupied management bodies and it will be necessary to see if she continues in the party, which is what I hope, or not, to restructure everything."
On the other hand, the next person on the list to occupy her position is Freya and as for the possibility that she accepts the position, Noda has said that he "hopes she does", although he has a meeting pending with her although he has told her by phone that she will. "I am here to guide them and help them, and I am sure that they will come with the desire to work for the municipality", he declared.
As for the distribution of the areas, until the new councilor joins, the powers will be carried out by the mayor and then a restructuring will be done and it will be decided who will manage each one.
