“It is not understandable that in such a serious situation, the mayor has not even flinched,” denounces Antonio Morales, who recalls all the initiatives that his party has presented, while the government group "continues without executing them and without giving explanations"

"The primary sector of the municipality of Tinajo has chained seven consecutive days without a supply of regenerated water, while the government group and the mayor, Jesús Machín, remain silent. We are beginning to suspect that something is happening, because we do not understand why this apathy, nor why they do not give us information, not only to the opposition, but to the people,” denounces the spokesperson for the Renovating Movement of Tinajo, Antonio Morales.

“We don't know if they have something to hide or if they have reached an agreement that we are unaware of, but it is not very understandable that in such a serious situation, the mayor has not even flinched,” insists the councilor, who adds that the residents also continue to suffer constant water cuts in their homes, while Canal and the Consortium do not even answer their calls.

Morales recalls that his party has been presenting initiatives in the Plenary on this issue for more than two years, requesting appearances from the mayor and registering writings in the Consistory, but regrets that "the government group continues to ignore it."

“They have not given any explanation about the measures that have been taken so that Canal Gestión can solve this problem,” criticizes Morales, who recalls that Jesús Machín refused to include in the agenda of the Plenary the appearances that have been requested of him.

Regarding the motions presented by the Renovating Movement of Tinajo, the last one was last February, asking that the City Council address the Water Consortium and Canal Gestión and take all necessary measures, without ruling out legal action, if the Consistory's demands were not met. However, he denounces that although the motion was approved unanimously, "the mayor still has not explained if he has taken any steps since then."

“Here you can see the neglect and disinterest of the mayor for a problem of a good as necessary as water, and he has not worried about this situation at all,” questions Antonio Morales, who insists that this passivity is beginning to be "suspicious." “It already happened to us with the garbage collection service, where the mayor blatantly lied about the situation of the contract, stalled, made no effort to solve it when it should have been solved and even broke the law by delaying the tender. The same thing is happening here. No type of information or action by the government group,” he denounces.

In fact, the party cannot explain why the mayor has not even requested an extraordinary meeting of the Water Consortium, of which the Tinajo City Council is a part, and also that this body has not been convened in the face of a problem that also affects other municipalities. “We are amazed. They haven't even met in the face of something so serious,” criticizes Morales, who considers that what the government group and the mayor are doing “has no name.”

“It seems that they are more concerned about other things, about parties, about propaganda and about photos, than about the real problems of the residents of the municipality,” reproaches the councilor.

In addition, he emphasizes that this is added to the exorbitant bills that many users continue to receive, in addition to new problems that residents and farmers have conveyed to them. On the one hand, they claim that Canal has sealed drinking water meters without prior notice. On the other hand, they warn that they have stopped applying the subsidized discount for the primary sector in their invoices. “Now it seems that they are going to give it as a nominated subsidy to each person: farmer, rancher or fisherman. They have to pay the money and then they will be given a subsidy at the end of the year compensating for the discount. In other words, a mess and a real nonsense,” questions Morales.
