The Podemos deputy for Lanzarote in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, María Del Río, has announced on Radio Lanzarote – Onda Cero that she will not run again in the 2023 elections.

“I think I have fulfilled my job”, said the deputy of the purple formation, who clarifies that although she is not a candidate, she will continue to collaborate in the party. “For me it was important to be in two full legislatures, and I am delighted to have been a parliamentarian for Lanzarote”, she points out.

María del Río does not clarify what her future will be within the party, but she does assure that she will continue to “support” Podemos, both at the island and Canary Islands level. “I will be supporting my colleagues, with the experience that I already have, because I think it is important for all those who come after”.

In relation to the possibility that Podemos may lose the seat that she holds in the next 2023 elections, if they do not manage to repeat the electoral results in Lanzarote, María del Río affirms that they are going to "fight tooth and nail" to keep it.
