The municipality of Tías faces a historic opportunity: to reinvent itself for the future without losing the essence that has defined it for generations. Marea Vva, a newly created political party, presents the proposal to create a Strategic Plan for Urban, Rural and Tourist Rehabilitation, a vision that goes beyond a traditional sun and beach resort. It is not just about correcting past mistakes, but about projecting Tías towards a sustainable, authentic and differentiated model.

The objective is clear: to preserve customs and traditions, enhance local architecture and give each town its own hallmark. Masdache, Conil, Mácher, La Asomada, Tías, Tegoyo and Puerto del Carmen should each shine with their own light, reflecting their history, their people and their landscapes.

The plan is proposed as a citizen participation project, where the true protagonists will be the residents who have marked the character of the municipality: farmers, ranchers, builders, artisans, painters, sculptors and so many others who have left their mark.

“We do not want a municipality that looks like any other place in the world. We want Tías to be recognizable with a single image, reflecting tradition, culture and sustainability,” say the promoters of the initiative, referring to the Marea Vva team.

Featured proposals

Recovery of traditional architecture: cobbled streets instead of asphalt in the town centers; white houses integrated with the volcanic landscape.

Symbolic elements at the entrances of each town (for example, a giant barrel in Masdache or another symbol linked to local identity).

Bus stops integrated with the environment, adapted to the aesthetics of each town.

Promotion of popular culture: Canarian wrestling, the candelabra festival, folklore, traditional festivals; encourage Canarian gastronomy and aboriginal names for businesses as a form of preservation.

Promotion of sustainable architecture, respectful of the environment and the history of the island.

Increase of green areas through reforestation with native species adapted to the Lanzarote ecosystem; natural shades that improve climate and aesthetics; recovery of traditional crops such as tomatoes and onions.

The Marea Vva proposal insists that globalization is homogenizing the territories, and therefore Tías must bet on singularity. “We live in a different paradise; let's continue to be so, but with prospects for a lasting future,” they say from the party.

This Strategic Plan for the Rehabilitation of the Municipality of Tías aims to become a long-term commitment, a guide to achieve a balance between modernity and tradition, where each town finds its voice and shows it to the world. The challenge is great, but so is the illusion of those who believe that Tías can mark a before and after in the way municipal development is conceived in Lanzarote.
