The first secretary of the Senate and socialist senator for Lanzarote, Manuel Fajardo, attended last Tuesday, May 2nd the joint session of the General Courts held on the occasion of the State visit of the President of the Republic of Colombia.
The Colombian president focused his speech on promoting a "new brotherhood" between Spain and his country, "that does not remember the past but allows us to face together the threat of the climate crisis and the future challenges of humanity," the Senate advances. "The speech was delivered in Congress before the deputies and senators of all parliamentary groups except Vox, who "had left the hemicycle a few seconds before," they comment.
"The strengthening of relations with Spain in regards to the economic and commercial" is another objective of this visit, in which the process promoted by the Colombian president after his arrival to power will be very present to "achieve" what he calls "total peace" in his country.
After the reception, the senator traveled to Tarragona representing the Senate, by delegation of its President to attend the XIII National Congress of the General Council of Spanish Lawyers, they add.
The General Council of Lawyers represents 83 Bar Associations and more than 150,000 professionals in Spain. In this edition, progress will continue in the "culture of agreement, so fundamental not only for the future of the profession, but for that of our country," they emphasize.
Given that with the entry into force of the EGAE in July 2021, all legal professionals will be able to participate directly in the elaboration of public policies of the profession, presenting Communications to the deliberative Panels, defending them publicly in the sessions themselves, and voting them together with the rest of the Congressmen, the Senate advances.
