The Yaiza City Council informs that the Maciot - Playa Blanca road is now open to traffic after the completion of the rehabilitation works on the 5.6 kilometers of this road that is usually used by residents, tourists and workers residing in other municipalities to get to and from the southern tourist town as an alternative to the LZ-2. Free circulation was announced for Friday, May 9, but the contractor Lanzagrava concluded the action and the road has been made available to drivers two days earlier than expected.

The improvement project was drafted by the Yaiza City Council and executed by the Department of Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote with a budget of 1.1 million euros from the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN).

For the public administrations committed to this task, "the intervention was not only necessary, but had to be carried out in the shortest possible time to minimize the inconvenience, especially to residents of Maciot and Femés and the restoration businesses in the area." This was announced by the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, the councilor of Public Works of the Island Council, Jacobo Medina, and the councilor of Works of Yaiza, Ángel Lago, during their visit last week to the road object of these works.
