The spokesperson for CC in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Sergio Machín, was in an Education and Culture commission at the headquarters of the First Island Institution, when he received a call and left. After that, the rest of the councilors found out through the media that he had been arrested.
It was 9:00 a.m. when the councilor entered the Cabildo "with complete normality", according to sources close to La Voz. At that time, an Education and Culture commission began, attended by a spokesperson for each political group, as well as the councilor for these two areas, Emma Cabrera.
As soon as this commission began, Machín received a call and left the room where the meeting was being held. Shortly after, he returned, picked up his things and said: "I'm sorry, I've been called and I have to leave", without giving any further explanation.
Later, the councilors attending that commission learned through the media that Machín had been arrested, as part of a new anti-corruption raid in Andalusia, the Canary Islands and Extremadura, coordinated by the presiding judge of the Court of Instruction 6 of Seville, Mercedes Alaya.
Apparently, early in the morning, two people who identified themselves as civil guards showed up at the door of his house, but the councilor was already in the Cabildo.
