The councilor of Lanzarote En Pie (LEP) in the municipality of Yaiza, Ramiro Muñoz, has expressed his discontent with the government group of the southern consistory for "not exempting the fairground workers from the payment of fees for 2022"

The municipal councilor explained that in June 2021 he presented a motion proposing "the exemption from the payment of fees to the fairground workers for the years 2021 and 2022, which was approved unanimously." "It was a proposal that we took to the Plenary as a measure to help alleviate the economic effects of the pandemic on the fairground sector," said Muñoz.

According to the LEP councilor in Yaiza, "the mayor promised to include this measure in the 2022 budgets, since it was not possible for 2021 because they were already approved at that time." "However, we were surprised to see that for this year the city council is again considering the fees for the fairground workers in its income," adds Muñoz.

From LEP Yaiza they express their discomfort at this situation and emphasize "the lack of commitment and the lack of empathy of Óscar Noda's government group with the sector." They also express their bewilderment "at the municipal government's rejection of the amendment presented by Ramiro Muñoz so that the measure would be taken into account in this year's budgets."

"We presented the amendment in a timely manner, it had been communicated in advance and they did not want to take it into consideration. They did not want to lend a hand to the sector, as they promised more than a year ago," said Muñoz.

For the LEP councilor in Yaiza, "the municipal budgets of Yaiza for 2022 are a cut and paste of the previous year. In practice they are the same as in 2021 except for the increase of two percent in personnel expenses." However, he considers the transfer of one hundred thousand euros for the management service of the Playa Blanca children's school to be positive.

"It is something we agree with, as it has also been our demand so that the families using the municipal nursery will benefit from the reduction of fees," concludes Muñoz.
