The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, and the CEOs of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote, Benjamín Perdomo, and of the Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society, Héctor Fernández, will head the Lanzarote delegation that will attend the 42nd edition of the International Tourism Fair of Madrid (Fitur 2022) next week.
After being held last year in May, this event is back in January, and will last from the 19th to the 23rd.
The president will represent the Island this year in what is considered "one of the three most important tourism events in the world", in an event that will bring together participants from more than 100 nations around the world at the IFEMA Madrid Trade Fair Center, as in previous editions.
Dolores Corujo stressed that, during the Fair, the Cabildo "will hold a series of meetings and encounters with tourism representatives from key and potentially exploitable markets for our Island, strengthening international relations and fostering connections with different issuing countries".
“Our goal is to continue presenting Lanzarote as a safe, clean, sustainable and premium tourist destination, with a new model based on respect for the environment and avoiding the massification of tourism on our Island. We will also promote the celebration of the Saramago Centenary and strengthen international relations,” the president detailed.
To guarantee the normal celebration of the event, IFEMA will reinforce health protocols and take all necessary security measures, so that it will require all participants from countries attached to the European digital COVID certificate, its presentation and, to participants from third countries, the same requirement requested at the border to obtain the 'QR Spain Health' that allows entry into Spain.
