The capital of Lanzarote adds a new tourist mobility option with the arrival of the company Toke Tuk Canarias, specialized in guided tours in lightweight and electric vehicles known as tuk-tuks.

The company, which began its operations in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, has started activities in Arrecife with the deployment of an initial fleet of six vehicles.

"We are a recreational leisure company and we are dedicated to offering excursions using audio and video guides in several languages and enjoying points of interest," one of the owner partners of the company, Gianluca Pagani, explained to Ekonomus.

The proposal seeks to enrich the city's complementary offer, providing "one more service so that tourists can enjoy, get to know Arrecife well and have a service that until now did not exist in the city," says the businessman.

A fundamental pillar in the company's strategy is the segment of cruises and organized tourism. The company maintains collaboration agreements with international tourist intermediaries such as Intercruises, TUI, Viator, and GetYourGuide.

"It is designed for cruise passengers, although not exclusively. We work with Intercruises in the port of Santa Cruz, Gran Canaria, and now also in Lanzarote to offer this service to shipping companies," explains Paguni.

Toke Tuk's business model differs substantially from the taxi or discretionary public transport sector, as "being 100% electric vehicles whose maximum speeds do not exceed 40 kilometers per hour, the activity does not require a transport license," an economic activity commencement is sufficient.

"We are not a transport service like a taxi, we work from point A to point A, always with a reservation, we cannot pick up people on the street who raise their hand," clarifies Paguni.
