The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Agriculture, is launching the vine staking campaign 2026, which will take place at the facilities of the Experimental Agricultural Farm. This action is part of the annual calendar of technical support for the island's wine sector and complies with sanitary control measures for plant material.

Interested individuals must register in person at the offices of the Experimental Agricultural Farm of the Cabildo, between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM, from February 2nd to February 15th. To carry out the staking, it will be mandatory to provide stakes prepared with a length of 40 centimeters, as well as the polygon and plot data of origin for the plant material and the location where the planting will take place.

The request for this information is in response to the control and traceability measures established against the phylloxera pest, therefore, grafting will not be authorized if all the required data, necessary for the correct processing of the application, are not provided.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and Minister of Agriculture, Oswaldo Betancort, points out that this campaign allows for the organization of the grafting process with clear technical criteria and guarantees control over the plant material introduced onto the farms. Betancort adds that "traceability is a basic tool to protect the vineyards of Lanzarote and avoid health risks that could compromise the crop".

Likewise, the president emphasizes that "support for the primary sector is materialized in actions like this one, which facilitate the work of winegrowers and allow for rigorous monitoring of the plant material planted on the island."

Compliance with these requirements is essential to carry out the staking in the facilities of the Experimental Agricultural Farm and to guarantee compliance with current phytosanitary regulations.
