The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through its insular Department of Transport and Mobility, is moving forward with the improvement of the island's interurban public transport system with the launch, since January 2nd, of the new Hospital Line 4h, the revitalization of routes and connections, as well as the creation of new night services and other route improvements
Among the main new features is the creation of Line 4H, which **connects the Arrecife Bus Interchange with the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital**, a long-standing demand from the population that, in just a few days of operation, has shown the success of the measure thanks to the high utilization of the service. In addition, the Cabildo has **increased the frequencies on the Arrecife–Playa Blanca lines (6, 60, and 62)**, reinforcing one of the corridors with the highest volume of daily travel and improving connections between the capital and the south of the island
The effort to achieve a more territorially balanced transport system is also reflected in the reinforcement of the central and northern lines, with the extension of operating hours on Line 7 (Arrecife–Máguez), Line 10 (Arrecife–Los Valles), and Line 9 (Arrecife–Órzola). In the case of the latter, its connection with the airport has been particularly strengthened, as it is a more direct route that passes through the Interchange, thus facilitating mobility in the north for both residents and visitors.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has emphasized that these improvements "are not isolated decisions, but the result of the Insular Plan for Sustainable Transport and Mobility of Lanzarote, designed at the beginning of this term to reverse years of lack of planning." Betancort recalled that "the island had a lost term between 2019 and 2023 in terms of mobility, and today we are beginning to see concrete realities that aim to improve people's daily lives."
“This Council Listens and Acts”
For his part, the island councilor for Transport and Mobility, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, expressed his satisfaction because "Lanzarote's users continue to come to the Transport Department to present their demands and proposals, which shows that the public is aware that this Council listens and acts. That trust is fundamental to continue adjusting and improving the service," he addedJiménez recalled that "although there are still improvements to be made, there are many verifiable facts that reflect a radical change in policies, both in the acquisition of new buses (23 of them incorporated in the last year) and in the improvement and creation of routes"; and he gave the example of Playa Blanca, where these recent improvements have led to an instant increase in connections, with the total number of services provided by routes 60 and 62 rising from 66 to 80
The Cabildo of Lanzarote continues to work progressively to further adapt the island's interurban transport network to the real needs of the territory and its inhabitants.
