Early this Sunday morning, a team of firefighters from Lanzarote traveled to La Palma to participate in the “reconstruction operation” of “isla bonita” caused by the volcanic eruption of “Cumbre Vieja”.

A total of five personnel, belonging to the Security and Emergency Consortium, who have been joined, on this occasion, by two colleagues from the “Cesar Manrique Lanzarote” Airport, are made available to the Government of the Canary Islands within the Canary Islands Volcanic Emergency Plan (Pevolca).

As it has been doing since the beginning of the eruption - fortunately declared extinct - the Lanzarote fire brigade continues to show its support, performing functions such as the verification of the condition of the affected structures, the rehabilitation of public spaces, gas control, among others.

The Councilor of the Security and Emergency Consortium, Marcos Bergaz, highlights “the new show of solidarity from the Lanzarote fire brigade, which is joining the reconstruction efforts in La Palma, after weeks of fighting the volcanic eruption.”

“Faced with this tragedy, all the Administrations, Security and Emergency Forces and the Canarian society in general are making ‘all in one’ a reality to try to alleviate the terrible consequences of this eruption. All our recognition and encouragement to the population of the sister island of La Palma, all our gratitude for the countless expressions of solidarity,” concludes Bergaz.

The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium has also provided, throughout the emergency, basic necessities together with logistical elements, such as a fire truck and a 4 x 4 vehicle.
