Lanzarote En Pie, represented by its spokesperson in the Arrecife City Council, Leticia Padilla, attended the meeting held on May 12 at the request of the Titerroy Neighborhood Association with the Deputy of the Common, Rafael Yanes, the director of the Canarian Housing Institute, Isabel Santana, the Councilor for Urban Planning and Housing of the Arrecife City Council, Eduardo Placeres and the spokesperson for the nationalist group, Echedey Eugenio; "in the last attempt to get a definitive solution to the situation of several families in Titerroy after twelve years of waiting."
For Leticia Padilla, the main conclusion that could be drawn from said meeting is that "the Arrecife City Council has not done its homework." According to the municipal spokesperson, "it is outrageous that this situation continues, since Astrid Pérez's government group knew that there was an extension of the agreement and still has done absolutely nothing. It hasn't even spoken to the affected neighbors."
From Lanzarote En Pie they assure that "as of today, the Arrecife City Council has implicitly recognized that it has neither a project nor a plan to provide a solution to this group of families." For the municipal organization "this reality became evident when, during the meeting, the director of the Canarian Housing Institute lamented that a year has been lost without doing anything."
On the other hand, it should be remembered that the Arrecife City Council still has to return the money received between 2012 and 2013 corresponding to the first annuities of the ARRU of Valterra and Titerroy destined to carry out, among other actions, the comprehensive rehabilitation works of the areas and that were not executed. The council would have to reimburse the Ministry of Development and the Autonomous Community something more than 3.4 million euros, including default interest, for the item of €2,767,258.34 received in those years and not used.
"Something that, if not resolved immediately, will prevent the Arrecife City Council from obtaining any item from the next agreement, with the serious consequences that this will have for the municipality.", concludes the municipal spokesperson, Leticia Padilla.
