To mark the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the incorporation of the Timanfaya National Park into the network of National Parks, the management of the entity has organized a series of events to celebrate the anniversary.

These events include the exhibition Memory of Timanfaya, which will open next April and will show the historical evolution of the National Park through photos provided by institutions and private collectors, as well as recreations of these images made by students from the Pancho Lasso Art School.

The Cabildo of Lanzarote has collaborated in the selection and loan of images through the Lanzarote Memory project, which depends on the Corporation's Data Center, a department coordinated by Councilor Ascensión Toledo.

In addition to facilitating contact with the owners of more than a hundred images, and access to them once they have given permission, Lanzarote Digital Memory collaborates with the National Park in capturing new funds that can complete the exhibition.

We are looking for historical photographs, as well as films and videos, that are related to the Fire Mountains themselves, and with all those customs and uses around the Timanfaya National Park, such as the planting of fruit trees in socos and lava bubbles, family excursions to parboil food with the heat of the subsoil in the Islote de Hilario, livestock gatherings, pilgrimages in honor of the Virgen de los Volcanes, etc.

All those interested in collaborating with Lanzarote Digital Memory and the Timanfaya National Park can contact Lanzarote Digital Memory through the email [email protected] or through the mobile phone 620145820 and the landline 928 810100 (ext 3006). You can write to us by WhatsApp at that same mobile phone. You can also contact us at our offices located in La Casa Amarilla, the old headquarters of the Cabildo of Lanzarote located at Calle León y Castillo, nº 6 in Arrecife.

You can also deliver the photos or films to the Offices of the Timanfaya National Park in Tinajo, located at Calle Mareta nº 9 in the town.

Lanzarote Digital Memory and the Timanfaya National Park will be responsible for digitizing the funds in high resolution, returning all the originals to their owners and giving a digitized copy to them. And all this free of charge only in exchange for authorizing the use of the photos for the exhibition and for their publication in Lanzarote Digital Memory.
