The neighborhood organization Acción Civil Lanzarote has requested an "immediate" action to address the problems of road traffic on the Los Mármoles road and has proposed to "recover the idea" to create two roundabouts on this road.
From Acción Civil Lanzarote, they have highlighted the need for this infrastructure to improve traffic and guarantee the safety of visitors, customers and workers of the Altavista 2 industrial park.
For the association, "the thousands of vehicles that access the area do so unsafely, crossing the solid line that divides the two sections of the road between Arrecife and Costa Teguise." Thus, they have indicated that at present, "the only correct and safe way to access the industrial park when the vehicle does so from Arrecife, is to join the LZ3 Las Caletas road, enter the roundabout and return, being this entire maneuver nonsense".
The neighborhood organization has thus highlighted the need for this infrastructure to improve traffic flow and thus guarantee the road safety of residents and visitors.
With the execution of this simple work, "the dangerous situations that are experienced every day, especially in certain time slots, such as midday where the volume of traffic can triple, would end."
It should be remembered that this area has large commercial surfaces and numerous industrial buildings with thousands of workers who in turn use the vehicle to access the area.
Arrecife City Council
To conclude, they have indicated that "the Arrecife City Council has been aware of this problem for some time, since it owns a part of the polygon, the capital institution itself has municipal dependencies, so we are convinced that they will get to work to solve a problem that also affects the safety of its public employees, thus ensuring the safety of access to its own dependencies."
