The Cabildo of Lanzarote has initiated two other declaration files of Assets of Cultural Interest. One of them intends to protect Los Jameos del Agua and its auditorium, with the category of historical garden and monument, and the other the Church of San Marcial, with the category of Historical Complex. In this case, in addition to the Church, the file affects its movable property, the Femés cemetery, the Casa del Romero, the parish house, the square and the so-called Aljibe del Santo.

The decree of the Councilor for Heritage, dated March 19, has been published this Friday in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands, and it reproduces the technical and legal reports that support the initiation of this procedure.

From the initiation of the file and until it concludes, the assets have the same protection as if they had already been declared BIC.

In total, the Cabildo has initiated five declaration files of Assets of Cultural Interest in recent weeks. The other three affect three properties located on Calle Real de Arrecife: the old Oriental hotel, El Mercadillo and the building that housed the Tamaragua store.
