The Minister of Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, was this Monday on the program Buenos días, Lanzarote of Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero to answer some questions about his dismissal as vice president of the Island Council last Monday.
Medina has assured that he feels "with a lot of strength as he had been doing until now, although with fewer responsibilities", since he no longer holds the position of vice president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. In this regard, he said that "it has been an absolute pride to be vice president and how I have been treated".
"I want to thank each and every one of the people who have sent me messages and who have called me, not only members of the PP, but also public officials of the party itself and the society of Lanzarote, I had never thought before of having so much support from the citizens", he expressed.
Regarding his dismissal as vice president, the councilor has revealed that he is surprised because the forms were not correct and when I do not lie when I speak in the media because what I feel, I say". In addition, he continued saying that what he is left with is that "I am a party person, loyal and disciplined".
"It is clear that the president of the Popular Party of Lanzarote, Astrid Pérez, has determined that there will be changes in the political group itself and I accept it because I am disciplined and the most important thing is the party, this is not about names and surnames, but about a project", he pointed out.
Before the words of Ángel Vázquez, spokesman for the PP in Lanzarote, on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero last week who declared that "the one who commands is the party and if someone doesn't like it, they can go home", the councilor has assured that "he does not believe that the spokesman wanted to say that because perhaps he did not explain himself well or the citizens did not understand it well because in the Popular Party no one is left over and we need many people to work, we have to add people, not invite them to leave because no one is essential".
Jacobo Medina has also clarified that "he is still the general secretary of the Popular Party in Lanzarote and as of today I am still the number two of Astrid Pérez, I guarantee that I will continue to be general secretary as long as the president continues to trust me".
Regarding the possibility of continuing to be a candidate for the presidency of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Medina has responded that "what is white in politics today, may be black tomorrow, if I have to be in a queue on an electoral list, I will be, and if I have to be the first, also".
