The PSOE of San Bartolomé has announced that Isidro Pérez will be the new mayor of the municipality, by "express wish of Alexis Tejera".
According to the party, the proposal will be taken to the plenary session next Saturday, November 27, in which the current Councilor for Sports and Culture will be proclaimed mayor of the municipality.
From the PSOE they point out that the mayor, being aware of the situation he was in, "left very specific instructions on the continuity of the socialist project that he led in San Bartolomé". "Alexis was always very clear about the priorities for this mandate and insisted ad nauseam that the focus was and would continue to be on social policies," the socialists add.
The PSOE expresses that Alexis Tejera's commitment to a San Bartolomé “equal for everyone”, a San Bartolomé “more social, supportive and sustainable”, made his years of management "a hallmark". This seal, however, they point out that it was never an individualistic or personal brand for him, "but a project shared with a dedicated, willing and enthusiastic team."
The Socialist Municipal Group, with the "unwavering" support of the Local Group of the PSOE of San Bartolomé, completely agrees with Alexis "that Isidro has the ideal profile to face this responsibility due to his conciliatory nature, for his ability to work and because he is a highly valued and loved colleague within the team."
The Municipal Group adds that it not only accepts the will of Alexis Tejera, but "fully shares his wish because it considers that Isidro is the right person". "Alexis leaves us an exemplary style that we will not lose sight of: the need to remain at street level, to listen to the neighbors, to share with them, to be clear about the most urgent and important issues for the municipality," the formation adds.
From the PSOE they maintain that "it will be an honor for this human team to continue with his project", and that it is made available to Isidro Pérez Martín "for the work that will have to be faced from this moment on, with the sadness of the void left by the loss of Alexis Tejera, but also with the conviction that we will live up to his legacy and, as he always was, to the municipality of San Bartolomé".
The socialists also want to show “their gratitude to the citizens of Lanzarote and San Bartolomé for the tremendous affection and respect with which they have dismissed the mayor.” From the political formation they extend this gratitude “to all the political forces, to all the institutions of the Canary Islands, to civil society, to the business sector, to all the entities from different areas and, in a very special way, to all the municipal workers”.
