Isaías González Rijo, president of the Works Council of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote (CACT), will resign from his position as president "irrevocably" next Friday, October 23, as La Voz has learned.
It so happens that his resignation becomes known after the hiring in the Centers of Ángel Vázquez's son as a dishwasher, which led the Popular Party to remove the counselor from the management of the CACT.
Alejandro Domínguez, general secretary of CCOO in Lanzarote, explained to this media outlet that Isaías González "has resigned as president, but not as a delegate of the workers." "There is a trade union majority agreement between UGT and CCOO and every year the positions are changed and in September of this year these changes of positions were due," he pointed out.
In this case, he detailed that UGT had not convened the plenary session to carry out this new appointment. For this reason, González decided to submit his resignation formally. "What was done was to force them to convene the plenary session because they had been trying for about three weeks on the part of CCOO to convene the works council with full representation to carry out the new appointments, but the secretariat supported by UGT had not given formal notice of the plenary session, so the president resigned to force them to convene the plenary session," he clarified.
Now, UGT has to be the one to choose a new president of the Works Council of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote through a plenary session, although it is not yet known who will occupy his position or when.
