Intersindical Canaria accuses Pedro San Ginés of "manipulating the accounts of the Tourist Centers for his own benefit"

The workers of the Tourist Centers affiliated with Intersindical Canaria have responded to the statements made by the counselor of the same, Pedro San Ginés, in which "it is said that the workers of the Centers are privileged because we earn a lot of money, work little and are to blame for all their ills," points out the press release from Intersindical. "We consider the aforementioned information to be absolutely false, malicious and biased."

"Pedro San Ginés has manipulated the accounts of the CACT for his own benefit to hide that the CACT contributes less money to the Cabildo of Lanzarote than it did four years ago," the members of this union have stated. They also consider that the management that the counselor of the Centers is carrying out at this time "is frankly ineffective and inefficient", since the number of visitors has been reduced by more than 15,000 people.

In addition, Intersindical also states in the press release that the profitability of the stores, the restaurant and the central office has decreased, specifically by 3.2, 8.3 and 6 percent respectively. They also assure that the increase in ticket revenue is due to the increase in the price of the same and not to the increase in visits.

"It is radically false that the workers of the CACT earn more than those in the private sector," say the members of Intersindical Canarias. They explain that a level II worker who works in a five-star hotel earns 22.5% more than one from the Centers. This union also comments that the Tourist Centers have contributed only 432 million pesetas to the coffers of the Cabildo and "Pedro San Ginés presents himself to public opinion as a patron through the Social Work of the CACT".
