The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, and the general secretary of Fundación ONCE and Inserta Empleo and director of Transformation, Excellence and Equality of Fundación ONCE, Virginia
Carcedo, have renewed this Tuesday the agreement they first signed in 2018 to promote the employment of people with disabilities in Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

As explained by the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, “the renewal of this agreement follows the Island Strategy for Accessibility and Inclusion designed by this government group, with which we work with facts and not mere words for the inclusion and equal opportunities of Lanzarote and Graciosa residents. The results of this agreement with Inserta Empleo speak for themselves, both in the number of people registered in the job bank, as well as those who have received training, guidance and have managed to formalize new employment contracts.”

For her part, Virginia Carcedo assured that this renewal shows that “the sum of synergies works, and proof of this are the data that it has yielded since 2018, when the collaboration began: we have a job bank of 1050 job seekers in Lanzarote. Of these, 553 job seekers with disabilities have received guidance; 797 students have taken job training courses and nearly 350 contracts have been formalized for people with disabilities.” In her opinion, “joining efforts and sharing resources promotes the employability of people with disabilities in Lanzarote, and will continue to do so with the agreement that we have just renewed.”

Also present at the signing was the island councilor for Inclusive Employment, Ascensión Toledo, who highlighted the benefits of the agreement to continue supporting the training, entrepreneurship and labor insertion of people with disabilities. “This agreement allows us to continue advancing in access to real work opportunities for people with disabilities,” she noted.

The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration to improve the situation in the labor market for people with disabilities through the establishment of training, recruitment, referral, guidance and insertion programs for people with disabilities to achieve their access to quality employment.

One of the objectives of the agreement is to raise awareness among citizens, social agents and organizations and institutions about the capabilities of people with disabilities. It also provides for the joint design and execution of specific actions for young people with disabilities, in order to promote their incorporation into the labor market and raise awareness among the business community in the commitment to young talent.

Fundación ONCE and Inserta Empleo

Fundación ONCE is the main Spanish social entity that works for the full inclusion of people with disabilities for the development of initiatives and programs in the fields of employment, training, as well as accessibility and design for all in order to promote globally accessible environments, products and services.

Thus, Fundación ONCE launched the Inserta Empleo organization, which is the human resources entity expert in serving people with disabilities and which focuses its activity on improving their training and achieving their inclusion in the labor market. It has an experience of more than 25 years and a team of experts in guidance and intermediation, distributed in its 48 offices throughout Spain.

It helps people with disabilities find employment, trains them if necessary, and offers companies the best candidates for the positions they need to fill. All this at no cost
whatsoever.

The activity of Inserta Empleo is framed in the state FSE+ programs of ‘Youth Employment’ (CCI 2021ES05SFPR001) and ‘Social Inclusion, child guarantee and fight against poverty’ (2021ES05SFPR003) and in the FSE+ program of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (CCI2021ES05SFPR009), which is being developed by Fundación ONCE through Inserta Empleo, with the co-financing of the European Union to increase the training and employment of people with disabilities.
