Inalsa and Unelco face each other again due to a new power outage at the Southern plant. The outage may cause drinking water restrictions for the residents of Yaiza, and the City Council describes the situation as "unprecedented." Mario Pérez, on the other hand, assures that this setback is beyond Inalsa's control.

Residents of the southern municipalities could suffer supply problems of water if the power outage that the Inalsa Sur Plant suffered this Wednesday morning is not resolved as soon as possible. A cut that, according to Mario Pérez, Unelco made without prior notice.

In addition, the director of the public water company hopes that this cut will be resolved as soon as possible, although he assures that this setback is "beyond Inalsa's control, as it is an unscheduled and totally unforeseen cut." Mario Pérez has also commented that he hopes that Unelco will restore service to the Janubio Plant as soon as possible, "in order to cause the least possible damage to the residents of the towns in the South of the island."

Regarding this incident, Mario Pérez has also taken the opportunity to announce that this Thursday, August 31, there will be a water cut in the main station on Barqueta Street, located in Puerto del Carmen, due to the modification works of the lines that Unelco is carrying out in the town. This cut will affect, according to the director, the residents of Yaiza and Uga.

Guarantee the drinking water service

For his part, the mayor of Yaiza, José Francisco Reyes, has demanded that those responsible for Unelco and Inalsa guarantee the drinking water service to the residents of his municipality. Reyes, in addition, has lashed out against the public water company because for the mayor "it is unheard of that Inalsa now blames Unelco for the failures or cuts in Insalsa Sur", since the mayor affirms that they offer a deficient service to their subscribers, which is evident in the continuous water cuts that the residents of the south of the island are suffering during this summer.

The City Council also does not understand how Inalsa does not guarantee the

water supply to the residents when, according to Reyes, "the current network system allows desalinated water to be pumped from the main plant in Punta de los Vientos."

Finally, the mayor of Yaiza, José Francisco Reyes, has urged the public company to "supply water to those residents, companies or establishments located in the municipality through tanks if these unfortunate cuts continue."
