The Haría City Council approved in the plenary session held last Friday to launch a minor modification procedure of the General Municipal Planning Plan, which affects the population center or town of Haría and seeks, among other objectives, to "adapt the planning to reality and project the future of this town".

According to the mayor, Alfredo Villalba, "the remodeling of the General Planning Plan will reduce the minimum plot to 500 meters to allow the construction of about 50 more homes." "This is a work of great importance that will make it easier for young people to settle in the municipality and will mean a further step in the fight against the depopulation we are suffering," he added.

"This decrease in the minimum plot from 1000 square meters to 500 in isolated construction complies with the parameters established in the PIOL", specify from the Consistory, which affirms that it also "defends the urban aesthetics of the town and guarantees the development of the palm grove with a maximum occupation of 30% of the land".

"The educational and sports area has grown by impulses, it is up to us to be responsible and organize the development of this space by providing the necessary roads, parking and areas for future expansions," said the councilor responsible for the Technical Office, Celestino Socas.

With this modification, specific growth areas are determined for the residence for the elderly, as well as for both educational centers and "connectivity is improved, proposing a circuit that facilitates access and evacuation of the environment." The remaining space of this reserve is used to create an outdoor sports park that complements the structure of free and sports spaces in the municipality.

Likewise, the municipal Administration details that this initiative "will facilitate the creation of new buildings, while respecting the characteristics of the urban center." To this end, a set of provisions will be stipulated that will be specifically adapted to the distinctive features of the town.

On the other hand, the modification of the plan also aims to order the adjustment of the detailed planning of the center of Haría to the 1:1,000 cartography of the Government of the Canary Islands.

From the City Council they remember that since its approval in 2006, the General Planning Plan of Haría has undergone some modifications, which affect, almost exclusively, its population centers, both in terms of the information available and the urban dynamics of each of them.
