The Haría City Council organized on Friday, September 12, a training day dedicated to the ethical management of feline colonies through the TNR method (Trap, Neuter, Return), which took place at the La Tegala Sociocultural Center.
This activity, which brought together professionals and volunteers, promoted awareness of the importance of responsible control of community cats. The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, stressed that "this type of initiative reflects the municipality's commitment to the protection of animals, promoting responsible practices that benefit both the fauna and the community."
For his part, the Councilor for Animal Welfare, Marcos Lemes, stressed the importance of collaboration with specialized entities. "The conference highlighted respect for nature and the ethical management of feline colonies, providing knowledge in capture and sterilization methods, which are essential for the care and control of cats," he concluded.
The training included the participation of the president of Arycan (Association for Respect and Commitment to Animals and Nature) and coordinator of ETN, a European NGO specialized in mass sterilization of community cats, Andrea Sabina Hansen, and the veterinarian specialized in sterilization and member of Arycan Marta Romero Miranda.
In addition, Sara Protectora volunteers Flavia Baridon and Natalia Thione gave a practical workshop on capture techniques, an essential aspect for the proper management of feline colonies.
