"Arrecife has had its name in giant letters at the entrance of León y Castillo street this week as a setting for photographic sessions for tourists." This was stated by the City Council in a statement, in which it explains that this initiative is part of the 2018 Tourism Dynamization Plan carried out by the Department of Tourism,
"This is the beginning of a campaign that aims to promote and revitalize the city with different actions that motivate commerce and the use of public transport," said the mayor, Eva de Anta, who visited the area with the Councilor for Tourism, David Duarte.
"The letters measure 1.30x1.40 meters and identify the commercial area of the center of Arrecife. It will serve as a strategic place to take photos and to take the name of Arrecife around the world," said Duarte.
According to the City Council, the Consistory will be the "promoter of this global project in collaboration with other councils and institutions, where criteria will be unified around the reconversion and consolidation of the city at a tourist level."
The project, they add, "will be aimed at tourists or visitors and will promote cultural and historical attractions with specific actions, as well as gastronomy and consumption in commerce and the accommodation network." In addition, "the use of public transport, buses and taxis between residents and visitors will be encouraged."
