The current general secretary of Comisiones Obreras in Lanzarote, Vanesa Frahija, will not be running for re-election in the Trade Union Congress to be held next March.

According to the union in a press release, Frahija has stated that "once this mandate is over, it is time to renew our Trade Union Organization."

After eight years at the head of this organization, the "good work" of Frahija and her team has positioned CCOO as "the majority trade union force in Lanzarote, being a benchmark for the rest of the islands".

CCOO Lanzarote has grown exponentially in affiliation and representation within companies. The "countless mobilizations, demonstrations and rallies have positioned CCOO, without a doubt, as the most assertive union", she defended in the same statement.

At the same time, she highlighted that "the numerous events organized have aroused great interest, the numbers prove it, in May 2024, the presence of Unai Sordo brought together more than 400 people in the auditorium of the Jameos del Agua".
