A false bomb alarm has led to the evacuation of the old Cabildo de Lanzarote building on Calle Real in Arrecife at 12:35 p.m. this Thursday, where the Education, Culture, and Historical Heritage departments of the first island corporation now operate.

The announcement about the alleged placement of a bomb was made to 112, anonymously, after which the National and Local Police were notified, who ordered the immediate evacuation of the building, where about 25 people work, and began their search, which ended without finding any explosive device or other suspicious element, so police sources have assured that it is a false alarm.

The security perimeter around the area was lifted at approximately 1:10 p.m., and about 15 minutes later, normality was restored in the building, with all employees returning to work.

Councilor Miguel González, who was outside the building at the time of the threat, stated that the false alarm was given "by some joker", and now an investigation will begin to try to establish who the author was.

The call made to 112 warned that the alleged bomb would explode in 20 minutes.
