"I love the figure of Santiago Abascal", declared Eugenio Hernández, candidate of Vox for the mayoralty of Arrecife this Wednesday in the morning program of Radio Lanzarote- Onda Cero. The politician has returned to the front line after abandoning the ranks of the Popular Party twelve years ago.
"I am satisfied to have abandoned that association that was harming society", declared the Vox candidate this Wednesday about his time in the party. The cases of corruption that involved part of the PP were the turning point for this militant who was part of the government of the Cabildo de Lanzarote in 2009.
"They always ask me if I am willing to participate in active politics, to go as a candidate, as a member, but they never told me we want to count on you to lead a list", narrates Hernández about his beginnings. He has only been a member of Vox for a year, but the general direction of the party decided from Madrid that he should lead the list for the elections on May 28.
What attracts him to the president of Vox at the national level, Santiago Abascal is that he is, for him, "a really determined person, really strong, that position and that character are quite attractive". At the same time, he associates the far-right group with acting against "the bad actions of politics" and questioning "the mendacity of the parties that are governing, who are capable of anything to stay in power."
Regarding the current situation of Arrecife, Eugenio Hernández laments the deficiencies of the capital. "It is being squandered, resources are invested, money is spent, but problems are not solved", he concluded.
The appointment of Eugenio Hernández is added to the Vox candidate for the Parliament of the Canary Islands for Lanzarote, José Luis Cubillo, and the Vox candidate for the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Óscar Pérez.
