The Cabildo de Lanzarote has deactivated the Emergency situation of the Territorial Emergency Plan of Lanzarote (PEIN), declared on May 28 after the fire at the Zonzamas Environmental Complex.
After receiving a communication from the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo has declared the end of the island emergency due to the risk of fire in the environmental complex.
Once the fire was extinguished and "its normal operation" restored, according to the Cabildo de Lanzarote, there are no longer "risks to the safety of people and property".
During a press conference offered last Tuesday, the president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted that "behind an incident there is a responsibility and the pertinent investigation file and the corresponding sanctioning file will be initiated against the concessionaire company".
