The mayor of Arrecife, Ástrid Perez, has been meeting since early this Monday morning with the head of the Local Police, José Antonio Lasso, and the councilor responsible for the body, Alfredo Mendoza, to analyze the actions of the two agents who this Sunday beat two people who were recording an arrest.

According to reports from the press department, the two agents involved have also attended the meeting and it is expected that, after it, a statement will be sent from the City Council.

The events took place this Sunday afternoon on Pedro Barba street in Arrecife and the images were recorded by neighbors, becoming viral. "Abuse of power" and "abuser", the neighbors shouted at the agents, after observing how they beat a woman and a man. They pushed her twice after she had fallen, and he received a punch that knocked him to the ground, leaving him apparently unconscious.

Sources close to the Local Police told La Voz that the agents had stopped them because they were without a mask, supposedly under the influence of alcohol and had fled in a car, leading to a chase through several streets, which ended on Pedro Barba street. There, they assured that "they began to insult the agents and record the moment of the arrest" of a colleague, unleashing a controversial action by the agents, which the Arrecife City Council is now analyzing.
