The Canary Islands Government Council has appointed Elizabeth Hernández this Thursday as the new director of the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) to replace Conrado Domínguez, who resigned last week due to his judicial indictment in the "mask case".
Elizabeth Hernández, a doctor by profession, "is not a parachutist falling into unknown territory", since she was until now the general director of Assistance Programs of the SCS and therefore has extensive experience in health management and planning, the spokesperson for the Canary Islands Government, Julio Pérez, reported in a press conference.
Previously she has been a tutor for internal and resident doctors, Pérez detailed, who pointed out that her long career in the health administration has been valued and that she is well aware of the actions that are underway, at a time when there are only six months left until the end of the legislature.
As a replacement for Elizabeth Hernández at the head of the General Directorate of Assistance Programs, the Government has appointed Rita Tristancho Ajamil, who has been a doctor in assistance services and head of service in the Canary Islands Health Service.
