The director of the Canarian Health Service (SCS), Conrado Domínguez, has submitted his resignation this Thursday as a consequence of his indictment for crimes of malfeasance and influence peddling in the so-called "Masks case", an alleged fraud of four million euros to public health, sources close to the Government have confirmed to Efe.
In a letter sent to Blas Trujillo, Minister of Health, which has been advanced by the digital Tiempo de Canarias, Domínguez explains that, after the judge's decision to declare the investigations of the case secret, he considers that he should step aside from his position in order to "maintain" his "rights of defense without this affecting the Canarian Health Service".
The "Masks case" investigates a contract signed in the initial months of the covid-19 pandemic by which the Canarian Health Service paid four million euros for a batch of one million FFP3 masks that it never received to the company RR7, a company dedicated to the trade of cars without previous experience in the import of sanitary material.
