The Island Directorate of the General State Administration in Lanzarote has been the setting this Monday for the act of presentation of eleven new agents of the National Police of new entry, who join the active service after passing the period of training and practices established in their access process.
The act was attended by the island director of the General State Administration, who highlighted the firm commitment of the Government of Spain to strengthen the State Security Forces and Corps on the island and throughout the Canary archipelago.
In his speech, the island director stressed that "the incorporation of these eleven new agents is a concrete example of the Government's will to continue increasing police forces in Lanzarote, as has been done in recent years."
During the act, it was recalled that, since 2017, the number of troops in the Canary Islands has grown by 13%, exceeding 8,000 members of the State Security Forces and Corps in 2024. A trend that will continue this year with new incorporations.
This sustained increase has been achieved thanks to the annual approval of Public Employment Offers that allow the entry of new troops after passing a rigorous selection process and demanding training, both in the academy and during the period of practices at destination.
In addition, the important reduction in waiting times for an agent of the Basic Scale to obtain a place in our region has been valued, which is allowing to reinforce key police stations such as Arrecife, highly committed to citizen security.
With these eleven new agents, Lanzarote reinforces its police endowment and advances in the objective of offering a service of greater proximity, efficiency and territorial presence, while continuing to promote security as one of the fundamental pillars of social welfare on the island.
