Elena Solís has been dismissed this Tuesday as Minister of Environment, Food Sovereignty and Animal Welfare of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. Her dismissal had been requested by Podemos, who alleges "loss of confidence" and "lack of harmony" with who has been her group partner.

Solís was appointed non-elected councilor at the proposal of the purple formation, after joining the government group of the Cabildo. Since then, she has been at the center of some controversies with her PSOE partners, such as the cancellation of the Isla de Los Volcanes Rally or her recent participation in a national television program questioning the extraction of jable in the Muñique area.

However, from Podemos they affirm that differences with their own group have led to this decision. “In this final phase of the legislature it is essential that the team is oiled to face all the challenges with guarantees”, say the councilors of the purple formation in the Cabildo, Myriam Barros and Jorge Peñas.

“We greatly appreciate all the work done by the colleague and we hope that she will continue to push for sustainability and biodiversity from the ecological movements to which she has always dedicated herself, whose work is immense in the midst of a climate emergency”, add the councilors.

Likewise, from the political group of Podemos in the Cabildo of Lanzarote they affirm that "they will continue working for the protection of the territory and the landscape of the island as it has been done until now, as well as to implement a new model of a more feminist, egalitarian and diverse island".

Regarding the Environment area of the institution, they have not yet announced who will assume that responsibility. In this regard, they affirm that they will announce it "soon" and that this management "will continue to be a priority for the political group of Podemos".
