The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, was on the Buenos días, Lanzarote program on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero this Tuesday to explain the progress on the San Bartolomé General Zoning Plan, which is now finalized and currently in the hands of the Government of the Canary Islands.

In this regard, she mentioned that they received the latest Defense report this week, which "cost us a lot, and we placed a lot of emphasis from this City Council on getting around and flying to Madrid."

Pérez has stated that "the general plans are not going to be to everyone's liking, but it is true that in San Bartolomé since 2019 we put effort into getting it out."

The mayor has emphasized that, thanks to this General Plan, many of the problems of the residents of areas such as Mancha Blanca and Güime can be solved, where some of the streets that could not be paved until now can be paved.

"One of the biggest arguments I had with the Plan's drafter is that they wanted to set back houses that have been there for fifty or sixty years, and I told them to tell me if it was a matter of model or a matter of legality. They told me it was about the model, so I asked them that we manage the municipality's model," he declared.

Isidro Pérez has revealed that "the next step will be the generation of the entire report that collects all the documentation that has arrived and then take it to the commission of a single report that I hope will be ready in less than a month."

Likewise, he highlighted that "maybe the neighbors don't know the importance of approving a plan like this because the simple fact that a father can give his son the rooftop so he can build a house is already a lot, and that is what we are satisfied with for the development of this municipality."
