Commitment for Haría (CxH) has denounced that more than two years have passed since the Government of the Canary Islands announced the launch of the eco-dining hall of the CEIP La Garita in the town of Arrieta.

In October 2023, the Department of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands announced the execution of the project Expansion of the eco-dining hall and connection of the classroom building with the main building of the CEIP La Garita, with an estimated completion period of three months. However, the party has denounced that "as of today, the works are paralyzed."

"The eco-dining hall project at the Arrieta school is fundamental for the students and their families. Not only is it a key element for work-life balance, but it directly affects the health and lifestyle habits of the young people at the Arrieta school. The delay of more than two years is unacceptable," said the head of the Education area of Compromiso Por Haría and councilwoman, Paula Montero.

Commitment for Haría has recalled that the project "was sold" by Alfredo Villalba in the pre-election period as "a great measure, but they warn that, as time has passed, it has become another unfulfilled promise of Alfredo Villalba and the PSOE."

"Alfredo Villalba was very quick to score the point of the eco-dining hall in the election campaign, but very slow to demand its fulfillment now that he is in the municipal government," he highlighted. Thus, they have demanded that he "assert the interests of the families of the municipality before the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands once and for all." In this sense, the school in Arrieta "does not have to pay for his lack of word," they state from Compromiso por Haría.

A motion to be debated in plenary The organization has also announced that it will present a motion in the next municipal plenary session with the aim of it being supported by all political groups regardless of their ideology. "We want to defend the interests of the families of Arrieta. Since the government group does not, we are going to raise a proposal to urge the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands, from the Town Hall, to complete the works and open the eco-dining hall at the CEIP La Garita as soon as possible. We need to do everything possible to make these facilities a reality as soon as possible," concluded the spokesperson for Compromiso por Haría, Chaxiraxi Niz.
