The Arrecife City Council has announced that Costas has approved the extension of the administrative concession for the occupation of public maritime-terrestrial domain assets for nautical and recreational sports facilities for community public use on the Islote de la Fermina.
In this resolution of the General Directorate of Coasts and the Sea, it is established that the extension is for a period of 10 years, extendable up to 24.
In the extension resolution, dated June 9, it is noted that the extension request submitted by the Arrecife City Council was agreed in the plenary session of October 25, 2019, already in the stage of the current Government group led by the popular mayor Astrid Pérez, and months before the expiration of the concession period, on February 26, 2020.
The term of the extension will be counted from that date, although now the concession depends on Costas and not on the Port Authority, to whom the islet was previously assigned.
The mayor Astrid Pérez highlights that these facilities "will be free of charge and will allow citizens to enjoy the Arrecife marina in an enclave that carries the original idea of César Manrique".
