The Cabildo of Lanzarote celebrated this Thursday an act to present the official election of San Bartolomé as the headquarters of the New Year's Eve Chimes in the Canary Islands. Next December 31, Radio Televisión Canaria will say goodbye to 2022 and welcome the new year throughout the Archipelago from the Plaza de San Bartolomé.
The event was attended by the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, the mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, and the presenters of RTVC Daniel Calero, Alicia Peñate and Paco Luis Quintana, who will be in charge of giving the Chimes.
Dolores Corujo thanked those present at the event and showed "the pride and honor that it represents for Lanzarote that San Bartolomé has been chosen as the headquarters of the Chimes."
"Lanzarote and San Bartolomé are ready to shine before the entire Archipelago and we trust that this opportunity will be a huge success for the island, placing us in the center of the regional map and paying a well-deserved recognition to a municipality where things are being done well and with love, by and for the people," the president highlighted.
In the same vein, the mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, conveyed his thanks to RTVC "for giving the honor to a humble municipality dedicated to its inhabitants to star in an event as symbolic for all Canarians as the Chimes."
