The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and regional parliamentarian, María Dolores Corujo, has reproached the Teguise City Council for "not having done its homework" with the Comprehensive Care Service for Dependency.

"It is the only one in Lanzarote that has not provided information on the elderly in the municipality, both those included in the provision of the home help service and those on the waiting list," said María Dolores Corujo in the Plenary of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, in her capacity as regional deputy for the island of Lanzarote.

"This lack of interest from the Teguise City Council makes it difficult to fulfill one of the objectives of the Insular Comprehensive Care Service for Dependency of Lanzarote, which is that all citizens, regardless of the municipality where they live, receive a service of the same quality," says the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

Hopes that Teguise will "do its homework promptly"

María Dolores Corujo made these statements after her intervention in the Plenary of the Parliament this Tuesday, when she took the stand to assess the implementation of the Insular Comprehensive Care Service for Dependency of Lanzarote, which she described as "pioneering and a model to follow for the rest of the Canary archipelago".

María Dolores Corujo recalled that, in order for it to be efficient, "this new model of care and attention to dependency must be shared between the different competent public administrations, so it is absolutely necessary that all the municipalities of the island align themselves with the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo, which are the promoters of the project, in the common objective of making the rights of this vulnerable group effective".

The president of the Cabildo hopes that the Teguise City Council will "do its homework promptly and provide information to the new Comprehensive Care Service for Dependency of Lanzarote, so that all potential users of the municipality can receive an equal and quality service, like the other users of the remaining municipalities of the island".
