The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, has expressed her satisfaction with the agreement reached this Wednesday by the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands with the insurance company AXA España for the subscription of a travel assistance policy for tourists, in order to address incidents related to Covid-19 during their trip to the Islands, including the need to extend their stays due to quarantines.

Corujo applauds that “with this measure the rest of the Archipelago joins the pioneering initiative adopted by the Cabildo of Lanzarote, from the first moment of the reopening of borders, to assume the expenses of tourists affected by the pandemic, including accommodation, food and transfers due to the need to quarantine on the island”.

In this context, the president of the Cabildo affirms that “Lanzarote is the only island that has its own action procedure at the island level that establishes very rigorous protocols in the event of possible detection of suspected cases of Covid-19 both at the airport and in accommodation establishments". "Protocols that have demonstrated their effectiveness in the few positives detected among those who visit us and that offer the confidence and guarantee of being able to give a quick and solvent response, typical of a leading and consolidated destination such as Lanzarote", she adds.
