The president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, considered “great news for journalism” the granting of the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands to Radio Lanzarote. “It recognizes the leading radio station as a benchmark for radio in the Canary Islands,” she says.

“I want to extend my sincere congratulations to Radio Lanzarote, to its owners and to the professionals who continue to accompany us from the airwaves day after day,” said the president.

“Radio Lanzarote is an indispensable means of communication in the island's society, as it contributes day by day to informing the population about what is happening on the island in a responsible manner and with rigor, professionalism and a critical and constructive spirit,” she points out.

The president has also valued that it is “a second-generation family business, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2022 and carries out a work of authentic public service.”

“Radio Lanzarote has been part of the lives of thousands of people since early in the morning, as they begin their daily routine by tuning into the station and listening to the informative news it offers,” says the president of the Cabildo.

The honorees in this edition will receive their Medal at the institutional event of Canary Islands Day, which will take place on Monday, May 30, at the Guimerá Theater in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. María Dolores Corujo has stated that she will be present in Tenerife on the day of the Gold Medal award to Radio Lanzarote.
