The Insular Political Council of Coalición Canaria in Lanzarote, chaired by its insular secretary, Migdalia Machín, approved this Monday the election of the 40 delegates who will represent Lanzarote and La Graciosa at the VIII National Congress of the party, which will be held on April 4 and 5 in Gran Canaria.
In addition, Machín also announced the convocation of the VII Insular Congress of Coalición Canaria Lanzarote, which will be held on May 24. This meeting will be a decisive space to define the strategic lines of the party at the insular level and to consolidate a political project that continues to offer answers to the needs of the islands.
Of the 40 delegates, 36 have been directly elected by the Insular Political Council and 4 by the organization of Young Nationalists of Lanzarote. The local committees will have a prominent representation, with 11 delegates from Arrecife, 5 from Teguise, including at least one representing La Graciosa, 4 from Tías, 4 from San Bartolomé, 5 from Yaiza, 4 from Tinajo and 3 from Haría. The election process has strictly respected the principles of parity, ensuring that both genders are represented equally and approaching 50% in each case.
During her speech, Migdalia Machín highlighted the importance of these internal processes to strengthen the party's structure and renew commitments to citizens. “These processes are not only fundamental for the functioning of the party, but also represent an opportunity to renew ourselves and continue working for Lanzarote and La Graciosa. Coalición Canaria is a party that is presented to govern, and where we govern, progress is seen,” said the insular secretary.
For his part, the Secretary of Organization of the nationalist formation on the island, Echedey Eugenio, stated that “the insular representation at the VIII National Congress will be an opportunity to highlight the political weight of Lanzarote and La Graciosa in the Coalición Canaria project, strengthening its role as a key political force for the future of the Canary Islands”.
